But Prahlad, the son of Hiranyakashyap, was a devotee of Lord Vishnu and had infinite faith in him. Hiranyakashyap did not like this thing at all. Regarding this, Hiranyakashyap used to oppose his son's immense devotion towards Lord Vishnu and was unhappy with him. He thought that no one else can be considered as God except him. Prahlad is warned many times by Hiranyakashyap that he should not worship Vishnu or else he will be put to death. But Prahlad did not listen to a word of his father and even after being warned, he remained engrossed in the worship of Vishnu. Many times Hiranyakashyap tried to kill his son but he failed in this attempt. After all efforts, Hiranyakashyap thought of taking the help of his sister Holika. God had given a boon to Holika that no one can burn Holika in the fire. After this, a pyre is made by Hiranyakashyap, in which Prahlad is made to sit with Holika and the pyre is set on fire. Prahlad remains engrossed in worshiping Vishnu even after sitting in the pyre and Holika is consumed in the fire. His boon also becomes ineffective because he used his boon to misuse it. On the other hand, Prahlad remains safe even after sitting in the fire because of the power of his devotion.
